THE Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) landed in Wellington Recreation Ground on Friday afternoon (April 4) as a road ambulance and two paramedic cars were also sent to deal with an emergency.

A 999 call was made when an elderly man suffered an injury in a fall in Wellington Park, which adjoins the recreation ground, shortly after 2 pm.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said it mobilised a double-crewed land ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, and an operations officer, as well as the air ambulance.

DSAA’s critical care team, which comprises a consultant grade doctor and a specialist practitioner, helped the injured man before he was taken in the land ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.
