A Wiveliscombe based youth charity have announced that they will be working with the Town Council and local police team on an upcoming Wellington outreach project.
As part of their plans for 2025, In The Mix Project are endeavouring to provide more detached and outreach youth work across the Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe areas.
Detached youth work operates without the use of a building or activity and takes place where young people “are at” both geographically and developmentally.
Part of this provision will involve the running of a short term detached programme in Wellington town centre, working in partnership with the Town Council, One Team, local police team, local schools, and Somerset Connect Champion.
In The Mix Project will be providing a safe space for young people to touch base with a youth worker which, the charity says they hope may develop into some more sustainable activities in the community for young people.
Founder of In The Mix Project, Nick Harvey said: “With the support of other agencies in Wellington, we hope to reach the voice of young people who don’t engage with traditional youth services or who are at risk within their communities.
“We very much look forward to developing more work in other villages and towns in the future.”
In the mix project is a Wiveliscombe based charity working to enable brighter futures for young people and communities through an educational and experiential approach.
The charity’s programmes include holiday clubs and trips, cooking classes, a specialised SEND group, outdoor learning and volunteering to name a few. Each is designed to enhance learning alongside personal, social, emotional and professional development, boosting self-esteem while promoting teamwork.
