The first report was linked to commercial alarms in the early hours, followed by a reported car fire on the M5 which turned out to be an overheating engine.

The third call came from the police with a request to dispatch the station’s lighting unit.

Teams were also called to attend a property fire in Drewsteignton, Devon, to assist using their high-volume water pump after a thatched roof caught alight.

Wellington Fire Station was one of 32 stations that were called to attend the accidental roof fire which caught alight on Monday (March 17) evening.
