A host of musicians are set to perform in an upcoming charity concert to celebrate the memory of a beloved mum.
The concert, titled Music Through the Years, is in remembrance of April Hooper and will take place at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre on Friday, May 9. It will feature performances from the Wellington Silver Band, The Wyndham Singers and guest soloist Emily Vernon.
Wellington Silver Band percussionist Andy Payne, his wife Caroline , and their wider family have chosen to fundraise for the mental health charity Mind in recognition of the support they received after the death of their daughter in October 2023.
The couple said: “We wanted to put the concert together to celebrate April. She loved music, so it was fitting to have a concert in her memory, to both celebrate her love of music and to thank the charity for what they’ve done for us.

“It’s hard to put into words what you feel but we just wanted to put together an event to celebrate her life and the band were really too delighted to support us in this cause.”
April Hooper was born on April 15, 1992, and spent most of her life based in Wellington. After leaving school, April found herself working in the care home industry, where, her parents say, her kind and loving nature shone through.
A few years later, April welcomed her son, Ethan, to whom she dedicated her time.
On September 25, 2023, April was found unconscious in her home by her sister Sammy and was transported to the ITU at Musgrove Park Hospital where she was placed into a medically induced coma. She passed away on October 7.
In memory of April, Music Through the Years will take place at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre on Friday, May 9 at 7.30pm.
