BERTIE Michael, who hit 96, and Lewis Townsend with six for 38, were the stand out performances in Somerset Pathway’s recent cricket matches.

Michael scored his runs in the three day match against Devon at Ivybridge where Somerset made 230 all out, Jago Barclay scoring 44, Toby Stoddard  37, Hanson Martin 34 and Ben Sleeman 30.

Devon were bowled out for 273 in reply, Sleeman claiming four for 43. In their second innings Somerset hit 217 all out, of which Michael made 96 off 134 balls with 15 fours.

Chasing 175 for victory Devon reached their target for five wickets, Thomas Watson taking four for 31.

Lewis Townsend claimed his wickets for the Under 14s in their two day game against Devon at where after being put in the visitors were dismissed for 199, Lewis bowling 11.5 overs, one maiden to end with his six for 38.

In reply the home side made 150 for six declared, Nicholas Watson making 40 while James Baker remained unbeaten on 35. In their second innings Devon posted 181 for seven declared, William Herdman taking three for 45 and Ben Puzey three for 44.

Chasing 231 for victory Somerset reached 233 for five, thanks to 50 from Harvey Coleman which came off 67 balls with eight fours and an unbeaten 82 from Sam Price that came from 137 deliveries and contained eight fours. 

The Girls Under 18 travelled to Urchfont to play two T20 matches against Wiltshire who, after being asked to bat in the first match, reached 78 for nine from their overs Verity Clark claiming three for 13. 

When Somerset replied they reached 79 for one in 15.1 overs - thanks to Emma Phillipson with an unbeaten 35 and Laila Moledina who was not out 17, the pair sharing an unbroken second wicket partnership of 50.

The second match was much closer and after being put in Wiltshire posted 119 for three from their overs. In pursuit Somerset looked well placed at 113 for five but then wickets tumbled and they were all out for 118 off the last ball of the innings. Opener Annabel Lamb top scored with 21.

The Girls Under 15s hosted Cornwall in the ECB One Day Cup and after being put in their scored 218 all out in 34.3 overs - thanks to an opening partnership of 76 between Mila Brooke who made 26 and Nurandee Wipulsuriya who hit 55 off 49 balls with 10 fours, after which Molly Thornburn with 50 off 46 deliveries with six fours and Charlotte Webber who made 22 put on 57 for the third.

When Cornwall batted they were all out for 132 in 33 overs with Megan Clark claiming three wickets for eight runs.
