WELLINGTON maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-3 home draw against Bishops Lydeard in Division Two of the Under 16 section in the Taunton Youth Football League.
Lydeard went one up in the 3rd minute with a shot from just outside the box and added a second on 14 minutes
However, Thiago Willetts was introduced for Wellingtonat around 15 minutes and was an immediate handful for Lydeard's defence. Spencer Thomson continued his rich vein of goalscoring form, making it 1-2 after 26 minutes (Thiago Willetts with the assist).
Wellington went into half time 1-2 down. However, it was far from doom and gloom.
Lydeard's goalkeeper made a number of excellent saves. Spencer was also inches away from adding to his tally. The second half started with Wellington in buoyant mood, looking to continue as they left off.
Wellington conceded a penalty within the first 10 minutes which was converted to make it 1-3. However, they didn't let that faze them and continued to go forward and create scoring opportunities. Ed Old scored just before the hour mark (Ollie Ackland provided the assist).
Wellington continued on the front foot and were inches away from equalising before Ollie Ackland settled the home supporters' nerves with an excellent individual goal.
