WELLINGTON RFC U15s welcomed their counterparts from Wells to the Athletic Ground for their first league game and despite losing there was plenty to be positive about in a classic game of two halves.
Wells opened the scoring with a try and conversion but Wellington hit back with Leo F pouncing on a loose pass by Wells on their own line to touch down. Wells then went on to score four more tries in the first half with Wellington dominating in the scrum but missing too many first up tackles.
The second half was a different prospect with Wellington gaining confidence and running powerfully at the Wells defence.
A try for James B, converted by CJ, followed by one for Harvey S brought Wellington back in to the game before Wells benefited from some loose passing to score again.
Wellington hit back straight from the kick off with a try for Harry W but Wells had the last say with an unconverted try.
The second half showed what the boys are capable of, outscoring their visitors with the forwards continuing to dominate the scrum, and only some last ditch tackling by Wells stopped further tries by the backs. Man of the match was Harvey S. Score: Wellington 24 Wells 36.
