WELLINGTON face a daunting home game against leaders Downend in the Bristol/Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, August 10 (12.00).

Arron Campbell’s boys have found it tough going since they won the Somerset Division last season without losing a game.

They have lost their last three matches and are lying second from bottom - and are in serious danger of making a quick return to the Somerset Division.

Batting has been their biggest problem with too many low scores putting pressure on their bowlers. This was the case last weekend when they lost by only two wickets at home to fifth-placed Clevedon, with their bowlers trying to defend a target of 152.

Their opponents on Saturday Downend have a 21-point lead at the top of the table although they lost last weekend, going down by 78 runs at home to Keynsham who scored more than 300 runs.

Midsomer Norton, in second place, also lost last weekend after being bowled out for 95 by bottom side Taunton Deane.

Top of the table Wellington 2nd XI are away to North Perrott in Division Three of the Somerset League, looking to bounce back after their big loss to title rivals Middlezoy last weekend.
