WELLINGTON are involved in a ‘must-win’ game when they play at home to Ilminster in the Bristol/Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, August 24 (12 noon).
Only 11 points separate the two sides who are both in the bottom four. Ilminster are lying seventh while Wellington are ninth, second from bottom.
Taunton Deane, who have won their last three matches after looking certain to be going down earlier this season, are away to Clevedon on Saturday, while Weston super Mare, who are also struggling to retain their status in the division, are home to Midsomer Norton.
It looks almost certain the relegation battle will go down to the wire. Wellington end the season with an away match against third-placed Golden Hill on Saturday, August 31, while the Deane entertain Keynsham.
Ilminster’s last match is at home to Clevedon while Weston are away to leaders Downend who have a 44-point lead at the top of the table and are very much favourites to win the championship.
The fight for the runners-up spot looks a three-horse race between Congresbury, Golden Hill and Midsomer Norton, who have lost their last three matches - all after being involved in thrilling finishes.
