WELLINGTON Tennis Club's teams are having a great season and are on a winning streak.

The 'A' team has had  two convincing wins in a week which has put them in second place in Division 2 in the West Somerset League with 49 points. In both matches  they gained the maximum 9 points against Bridgwater B away and home versus Elms A.

Sue Rackley said: " We hope to earn a playoff to gain promotion to Division 1 again. We have gelled well considering Pat Hamilton relocated to Bath and our new player, Phil Cookson, has been very consistent with good net play. "

She added, "Of course we are fortunate to have James Cross and Liz Deem who played at a county level as juniors and Liz still plays at this level.' Winning all their matches, so far means Wellington B team, Janet Dobson, Aly Spiller, Greg Sellers and Geoff Lee, are top of Division 4 and look like they can't be caught  with 55 points. so they will be promoted to Division 3. Fighting to avoid the relegation zone, Wellington C have matches in hand and need to win some points to get mid- table or they may have to have a playoff to remain in Division 4.
