WELLINGTON Pétanque Club has made a strong return to the Devon League this season and the final match of the first round saw their two teams, Wellington (men) and Monument (ladies) playing against each other.

Alison Newberry made a good start, taking the singles for Monument but Wellington continued their winning streak by winning the doubles and narrowly winning the triples.

Both teams have played strongly in the league, with Wellington coming second in their division and through to the semi-finals.

The club is keen to foster links with other local clubs and is planning to host an invitational competition in September.
