WELLINGTON will be looking to win their third match on the bounce when they play away to Chard in a derby match in Regional Two South West today.

Wellington will also be out to pull off their second double of the season, having beaten Chard 41-22 at home in mid-September. Last Saturday’s home win over Teignmouth was their first double of the present campaign.

“Although things did not go as well towards the end of the game against Teignmouth, the lads can be pleased with the result,” said Wellington coach Allyn Chetland.

“Looking at the season so far, there are a couple of games which we believe we should have won. But generally the team is looking positive.”

Wellington are now in sixth spot following their two latest victories and have collected twice as many points as their South Somerset opponents who are down in tenth place.

This is the penultimate match of the league year with leaders St Austell playing at the Athletic Ground tomorrow week. Wellington will want to field a strong side for this match following their mauling at St Austell earlier this season.

There is a derby match at the Athletic Field in Counties Three Somerset South tomorrow with Wellington looking to gain their second win of the season over their Wiveliscombe counterparts, having won by the surprisingly big margin of 38-0 when the sides played each other in early September.

However, Wiveliscombe are seventh in the table, one place above Wellington who have had ten points deducted for failing to fulfil two fixtures.

The sides will be in action again at Wiveliscombe on Boxing Day morning, prior to the big first team game in the afternoon.

Wiveliscombe’s first team are another side looking to complete the season’s double over their opponents when Bideford visit The Rec for a game in Counties One Western West tomorrow. Wivey chalked up a 42-10 victory when they played in North Devon in September.

Wiveliscombe, who lost 45-13 away to second-placed Topsham last weekend, are lying sixth, two places below Bideford, both sides having played the same number of matches. The temperature tomorrow will be much colder than when the sides clashed in September.
