LOCAL women’s rugby will experience a first in Wellington this weekend (Sunday, September 29) when Taunton RFC Ladies and Sherborne Ladies kick off their inner warrior season a little differently with a Taunton home game played at the Athletic Ground with the help of the newly formed Wellington Vixens (2p.m.).
Due to Taunton and Sherborne suffering low numbers for their first game the spirit of rugby and teamwork pulled through to see the Vixens offer to not only lend players to Taunton and also to Sherborne so the game could go on the teams could benefit from game time.
“It should be a really good atmosphere and all the ladies are keen for some game time,” said Taunton Ladies head coach Chris Brown.
“We are really keen to build alliances with our local clubs like the Vixens so all ladies get a good run out and more importantly put into practise all their pre season training. We really appreciate their help.
“We’re looking forward to the fixture and hope that the ladies all enjoy this different game dynamic. We also get to experience the new look club house at Wellington too.”
