WIVELISCOMBE 2nd XV lost their 100 per cent record in Counties Four Somerset South when they went down away to title rivals Martock on a windy day.

Wiveliscombe were narrowly beaten 10-5 in one of the few matches played in Somerset because of the bad weather.

Martock, Wivvy’s strongest opponents in the division, scored two tries with the visitors’ only score coming from Matt Page who snapped up a try.

Despite losing, Wivvy remain top of the table but their lead has been reduced to only one point, both sides having played the same number of games.

Wiveliscombe lst XV were due to play away to Bude in Counties One Western West but the fixture was among many called off because to Storm Darragh.

In the only match played in the division, leaders Paignton opened up a seven-point lead at the top after winning 36-17 away to Plymstock Oaks. Wiveliscombe are in fifth place with six wins from their opening ten matches.

Meanwhile, Wiveliscombe will be looking to get back into first team action this coming weekend (Dec 14) when they play at home to second-placed Pirates Amateurs.

Wiveliscombe 2nd XV are without a fixture but play next on Saturday, December 21, when they are away to fifth-placed Morganians
