WELLINGTON'S hopes of back to back rugby wins in Regional Two South West were dashed when they slumped to a 38-5 away loss to Crediton.
Wellington were always struggling and never seriously looked like winning after trailing 17-0 early on.
The Devon side added another converted try as they went in at half time 24-0 ahead.
Wellington skipper Danny Lee, returning to the side following his harsh sending off against Topsham three weeks ago, managed to snap up an unconverted try for the visitors in the second half. But Crediton ran out comfortable winners.
It was Wellington's seventh defeat of the season but they remain eighth in the table although they have played one more match than three of the four teams below them - Teignmouth, Cullompton, Truro and Newton Abbot.
However, Wellington were not happy with the game being played in the blustery and wet conditions particularly after Government warnings 'not to travel.'
In the only other match played in the division Cullompton lost 32-14 at home to second-placed Tiverton.
Wellington 2nd XV's home game against bottom side Cheddar Valley in Counties Three Somerset South was postponed because the Bristol-based referee was not happy with travelling. Valley have yet to win a game this season.
