WELLINGTON will be looking to keep up the pressure at the top of Western Counties West when they play away to Kingsbridge in Western Counties West this coming Saturday.
Kingsbridge have lost all three of their league matches this season but coach Allyn Chetland has warned against complacency. “Kingsbridge is always a difficult place to go and win,” he said: “Their pitch also has a slope which is not easy to play on.”
Wellington are up to fourth in the table after their home victory over Falmouth who had won their opening two matches.
“It was a good win because Falmouth are a very useful side indeed,” added Chetland. “We outscored them by five tries to two.”
Wellington are expected to field a near-strength side but hooker Jack Richards limped off against Falmouth with an ankle injury and could be doubtful on Saturday. Regan Walker (dead leg) and George Hodgson (calf) are also nursing injuries.
Wiveliscombe will be aiming to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season in Somerset Premier when they play away to Burnham on Sea 2nd XV who have won two of their three matches.
Wivey enjoyed two big wins in their first two matches but were given a run for their money by Old Redcliffians 2nd XV on Saturday, coming from behind before winning 32-27.
Both Wellington 2nd XV and their counterparts are without games this weekend.
Wellington U18s play North Petherton U18s at home on Saturday (3.00pm).
