CASTLE Carey, who are in second position in the Somerset Three South League, were made to work hard for their 17-5 victory on the Wivey Rec on Saturday.
Wiveliscombe competed well in the set pieces but lacked penetration in the backs and this limited their scoring opportunities.
Playing up the slope in the first half Castle Carey scored a try through Mark Cinicola which was converted by Lewis Cox to give them a half time lead of 0-7.
The visitors scored another two tries in the second half through Cinicola and Toby Clothier to take a 17-0 lead.
But credit to Wiveliscombe, they finished the game strongly and deserved their try which was well taken by flanker Rob Pike.
