WELLINGTON went down to a nail-biting 10-8 defeat away to bottom side Truro in Regional Two South West.
In a match of few scoring chances, Wellington led 8-7 at one stage in the second half before the Cornish side struck a cruel blow by landing a penalty in the 77th minute.
And although they remain one place above the relegation zone, they are still in danger of going down if three teams are relegated. At present Wellington are fourth from bottom.
In the match at Truro, the home side took the lead after 15 minutes with a converted try but Wellington hit back with a try by Cam Venn, which was not converted, in added time in the first half
Wellington took the lead for the first time when Danny Goverd kicked a penalty in the 65th minute but Truro clinched victory with a three-pointer of their own only minutes from the end.
