TIVERTON Foxhounds stages its annual point to point at Chipley Park on Sunday (Jan 26) with a strong seven race-card entry (first race 12 noon start).

With 94 entries, it looks to be a great day with plenty of quality on show. The GRE Hunt Members Race looks to be between Lucky Lara, His Own Star and the interesting recruit returning back to the Point to Point field, Soldier Of Destiny. His Own Star has already had the benefit of a run but will have to concede 15lb more than Lucky Lara. Soldier Of Destiny for Mark Quinlan, would be the pick, if back to old form.

The Jockey Club and Clarke Willmott Mares Maiden has the newcomer, Edith Pelham, from the Gina Andrews’ yard, who cost £40,000 as a three year old. Will Biddick’s mount, Far Out West, was 2nd last time out at Larkhill and could break her duck here.

The Gina Andrews’ yard has another two runners looking to make their debuts, Caractacus Potts and Radical Optimism in the The Tozer Solicitors and AGRII Open Maiden race. Ted The Thief, from the Crewkerne based Joshua Newman stable, was 2nd at Wadebridge two weeks ago and should be suited by this stayers track.

The feature race of the day, The Dilloway and Bosley Mixed Open Race, has attracted 12 entries. This could give local trainer, David Pipe, a winner, who is double handed with both Fighter Allen and Sidi Ismael entered. The current leading British Foxhunter contender, Ihandaya, holds an entry for Nicky Sheppard and jockey Natalie Parker and if winning this, could look set for his Cheltenham Festival target come March.

Important Notice for Joshua Newman, won comfortably at Chaddesley Corbett before the New Year and looks to be the favourite for the Exeter Intermediate Qualifier Race. All Star Boy for Christopher Barber, only won a week ago at Larkhill but if reappearing quickly, could chase Important Notice home.

The Mount Pleasant Inn and Greenslade Taylor Hunt Restricted Race could see a winner for Will Biddick with Southfield Scope, who won impressively at Larkhill. El Capitaine won comfortably at Wadebridge in December and could keep up the winning streak for Joshua Newman.

The concluding race of the day is The Friends of the late Geoff White and West Country Renovations PPORA Club Members race which could see a rematch for the third time between Fighter Allen (David Pipe) and The Kings Writ (Joshua Newman) who are both currently one a piece!
