WELLINGTON’S away match against Ivybridge Town in the Premier Division of the Jewson Football League on New Year’s Day was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
The decision was taken following an 11a.m. inspection of the pitch in Devon.
It would have been Wellington’s first away match following a run of seven games at the Playing Field, six of them resulting in defeats, four in the league and two in cup competitions against first division opposition.
Meanwhile, Wellington are due to play away to fifth-placed Street on Saturday, January 4, and home to bottom side Welton Rovers next Wednesday (Jan 8).
Wellington Reserves, second from bottom of the Premier Division in the Devon & Exeter League, are home to Colyton Reserves on Saturday (3p.m.).
Wellington A are home to Stogursey in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League at Court Fields (2.15p.m.).
Wellington Reds, the footballing section of the local cricket club, are due to play Bridgwater Grasshoppers in the quarter-finals of the Rowbarton Charity Cup at Castle School on Friday, January 3 (8p.m.).
After a long break, Wellington side Moortown are back in action when they play away to second-placed Wyvern Wanderers in the first division of the Somerset Sunday League this weekend.
