WELLINGTON Ladies pulled off a fine 4-1 home win over Crewkerne Rangers in Division Three South of the Somerset Women’s Football League at the Playing Field.

It was only their second victory of the season and they go above Rangers who are now bottom of the table.

Wellington managed to build up a 3-0 lead by half-time including lovely strikes from Jade Pope and Chloe Carpenter, with both assists coming from Tash Hole who then managed to get a goal herself five minutes before the interval with an assist from player-manager Ash Grabham-White.

The second half started strongly with lots of shots from both teams before Crewkerne managed to slide one past keeper Tasha Ireland who had previously made some good saves.

Wellington carried on playing their game well and added a fourth goal from Grabham-White with another assist from Tash Hole. Player-of-the-match was Chloe Carpenter, normally a defender, who played midfield and bagged herself a goal.

The Ladies are home to Porlock Ladies at the Playing Field this Sunday (kick-off 2pm) in their penultimate game of the season.They finish off away to Pen Mill Development on Sunday, February 23.
