WELLINGTON are looking to end a four week break from football because of the bad weather with a home game against sixth-placed Street in the Premier Division of the Jewson Football League on Saturday, February 22 (3p.m.).
Wellington have slipped to 16th in the table during their spell without games but have matches in hand on teams around them, with Bridgwater United, one place above them, only two points better off but having played four more games.
Wellington have not played since they beat Nailsea & Backwell 2-0 at home at the end of last month. It ended a poor run of results in which they went eight matches without winning.
Wellington's next home matches are against the two sides fighting it out for the title. Clevedon Town, in second place, visit the Playing Field on Saturday, March 1, while leaders Portishead Town provide the opposition the following Wednesday, March 5.
Meanwhile Wellington Reserves are also hoping to be back in action when they play away to second from bottom Lyme Regis in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter League on Saturday, February 22. The Reserves suffered a disappointing 2-1 home loss to Colyton in their last game.
Wellington A, struggling near the bottom of the Premier Division in the Taunton Saturday League, are home to highflyers Galmington who go into the match with an 11-point lead over second-placed Wembdon who have three games in hand.
Wellington won the first division last season but are finding it much tougher this winter, and slumped to a 6-3 home defeat in their last match against Porlock.
Wellington Wildcats, who are lying fourth in Division One of the Somerset Women’s League, have a home game against Middlezoy Ladies at the Playing Field on Sunday, February 23 (2p.m.).
Wells City are proving to be the outstanding side in the division, having won ten of their 12 matches and are six points clear of second-placed Nailsea United.
Paulton Rovers Reserves are the division’s bottom side, having won only one game and collected only four points.
Wellington Ladies end their season in Somerset Three South with an away match against Pen Mill Ladies Development who are only one place above them in the table. Wellington are second from bottom and cannot improve on this position.
However, they have been improving this year and gained a fine 2-2 home draw recently with Porlock Ladies who have clinched the runners-up spot in this division and will be promoted.
Meanwhile, Wellington have welcomed defender Harry Scott back into their ranks. He started the campaign with the Tangerines before joining Barnstaple Town who also play in the Premier Division.
