WELLINGTON maintained their winning run, gaining their eighth successive victory with a 3-1 success at home to Ilfracombe Town in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League.

The home side made a splendid start with Jake Quick producing the neatest of back heeled flicks to score after only five minutes following a low cross by Nathan Byrne.

Quick struck again in the 53rd minute when he scored from a half-chance after the ball dropped to the striker in the penalty box.

Ilfracombe pulled a goal back in the 56th minute when Aidan Barrow netted from close range to end Wellington’s run of clean sheets.

Matt Crawley, who replaced Mikes Quick after 72 minutes, clinched the points for Wellington with a third goal four minutes into injury time.

Meanwhile, Wellington are home again in the league on Saturday, November 16, when they play local rivals Bridgwater United (3p.m.).

Wellington Reserves are away to Clyst Valley in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter League, while Wellington A play bottom club Minehead Reserves in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League at Court Fields (2.15p.m.).

Wellington Reds, beaten only once in the first division of the Saturday League, play Alcombe Rovers at the Playing Field (2p.m.).
