WELLINGTON Squash and Racketball Club’s first team played away against Wyvern 4 in Division Two of the Somerset League on Monday and secured another win.
Natalie Lawrence at 1 was involved in a hard match and lost 4-15, 11-15, 19-17, 15-12, 7-15. Barry Bartram at 2 had an off day losing to his opponent for the first time 13-15, 6-15, 14-15. James Wilkie at 3 won 15-7, 15-3, 13-15, 15-10. Andrew Carpenter at 4 won 15-11, 15-9, 14-16, 15-10 and Mike Broom at 5 won 15-6, 15-10, 15-9. The final match score was Wyvern 8 Wellington 14.
Wellington’s second team were at home against Weston String Strokers. David Thorne at 1 won 17-15, 15-9, 15-11. Simon Buttars at 3 lost 11-15, 12-15, 4-15. Tessa Harris at 3 won 7-15, 15-6, 15-8, 15-11. Dan Keywood at 4 lost 19-21, 5-15, 16-18 and James Pill-Waring at 5 lost 15-10, 10-15, 10-15, 11-15. The final match score was Wellington 7 Weston 13.
Wellington 1 are still second in the table chasing an unbeaten Weston side who are currently 12 points ahead of them. Next week the first team has no match and the 2nd team is home against Street 2.
