WELLINGTON AFC's Under 7s have become a real force in their age group. Since settling in their current Lions and Tigers squads, they have played more games than the fixture list allows through arranged friendlies from the Devon league and have barely tasted defeat.
After putting an end to Staplegrove's unbeaten run with a splendid display, they went on to beat Tone Youth convincingly as well as both qualifying for the final round of the cup. Their most recent opponents were Wembdon, whose coaches were very complimentary about the Wellington boys saying they are the best they have played against and their coaches should be very proud. Lions were up first against Wembdon and started off very well with an early lead.
However, they soon found themselves in unfamiliar territory at being 2-1 down and had a battle on their hands but this did not faze them. Just before the break, Lions deservedly equalised and headed into half time at 2-2. The second half was all Lions with some amazing passing, dribbling, and shooting. They secured the win with two more very well taken goals, but it could have been a lot more if it was not for great goalkeeping. The movement on and off the ball was first class.

Greyson Fisher and Harry Belsom both netted goals in the 4-2.
The Tigers coaches described their performance in their 5-1 victory as 'near perfect' for a team known more for skill than strength. They were unrecognisable and top draw in every tackle against a physically bigger team. They out-worked and out-skilled the opposition with some great defending, passing, shooting, and let’s not forget goalkeeping.
Noah Marriott managed to score a hat-trick with the other two goals coming from Caleb Bidgway.
