WELLINGTON Reserves dropped crucial points when they were held to a 1-1 home draw by struggling Lyme Regis in the Premier Division of the Devon and Exeter Football League at the Playing Field.
In fact, they only managed to salvage a point through a late penalty from Ollie Nott. They were without a number of players for this fixture against the side propping up the table, without a victory this season.
Wellington could find no way through the seasiders’ defence in the first half and they were frustrated again after the break.
Things got even worse when Lyme made a rare break and their striker made room before firing past keeper Tom Hawkings.
But, with time running out, the Tangerines were awarded a penalty for a tackle from behind in the visitors’ area and man-of-the-match Nott made no mistake from the spot.
The Reserves are away to Wells City Reserves in the Somerset Senior Cup on Saturday, December 7. City are seventh in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League with a record of won seven, drawn two and lost seven. Hopefully, Wellington will have players back to strengthen for what will not be an easy tie.
