HEMYOCK Football Club appear to be on the brink of folding unless a new manager can be found ahead of the new season, writes Phil Bell.
This seems a shame for a club with such great facilities and players at its disposal.
The team play in the Devon and Exeter League on a Saturday and have been under the stewardship of Darren Salter for many seasons. But Salter has given time on his role so the search for a new management team is on.
For several years now, the club have attracted players not only from Hemyock but over the hill from Wellington and down the road from Tiverton. Early indications show that the playing support will be there again next season. They just need a leader.
In recent seasons the club has found itself run from within with many players taking on coaching and committee roles. Unfortunately, non-playing support from within the area has dwindled, which is a shame and what the club is missing. Whether it is a lack of knowledge of the football club or just a lack of time who knows but it is disappointing considering the size of the village.
So if there is anyone out there who wants to be involved in a fantastic little football club in any way, get in contact with us so that all that’s good doesn’t go to waste.
