WELLINGTON AFC have been given a two-week laya-off by the Toolstation Western League with the season being suspended because of the Coronavirus outbreak.
League officials announced last week that games would be postponed from Saturday, March 14, onwards.
“With advice from the Football Association and in line with other leagues, all Western League matches are suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak,” said a statement on the league’s official website.
“No games will be played from Saturday, March 14, for a period of two weeks.
“This will be reviewed by the league on Friday, March 27.”
It meant that Wellington’s trip to Bradford Town last Saturday was postponed and Tuesday night’s visit to Bridport was also called-off.
Wellington’s planned home game with Cribbs this coming Saturday will also have to be re-arranged as will the visit of Keynsham Town on March 25.
It could mean – as long as games can start again after March 27 – that Wellington’s next match is on Saturday, March 28, when they travel to face Clevedon Town.
Wellington are currently second from bottom of the Premier Division table in the Toolstation League and are desperate for points to avoid relegation.
