WELLINGTON Town Under 16s are through to the final of the Somerset Youth Shield and will play Middlezoy at Burnham on Sea on Sunday, May 5.
They won their semi-final last weekend when they beat Backwell Athletic 1-0 away with Ollie Ackland scoring the only goal in the first half. Man of the Match went to Harry Chetland
"I thought we dominated the first half but it was much more even after the interval," said Wellington manager Wayne Oaten. "Some of the lads have known each other for a long time, five or six having come up from the Under 9s. They know each others' game and they work hard for each other."
Wellington are still on course for a treble. They are favourites to win the Taunton Youth League's Under 16 title and play Middlezoy Rovers away in the semi-finals of the League KO Cup.
"It's been a stop and start season for us," added Oaten. "When you're playing well you want to play all the time. You don't want a break. That’s when you can come unstuck as we’ve found out to our cost this season. But we’re still going well.”
