WELLINGTON will be chasing the season’s double over Keynsham when the sides play each other in the Bristol/Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, July 20 (12 noon).

Wellington beat Keynsham in an exciting match by only six runs away when the teams met in mid-May.

It is one of only four victories for Wellington who are lying sixth in the table while Keynsham are eighth after gaining a fine 33-run home victory over Clevedon last weekend.

Wellington, however, lost their last match by 118 runs away to title-chasing Midsomer Norton, their batting again letting them down.

This was always going to be a difficult season for Wellington who won the Somerset Division in the West of England League last season without losing a match - the best season in the club’s history.

They have never played in the Bristol/Somerset Division before and are obviously finding the going tough, as would be expected.

Batting has been the problem and they are lacking the big knocks which brought them success last summer when they finished with 16 victories from 18 fixtures, the other two being cancelled because of bad weather. They finished 59 points clear of the runners-up Chard in a quite remarkable season.
