WELLINGTON will be looking for back to back wins when they play at home to Golden Hill in the Bristol/Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, June 29 (12.00).
Wellington are lying seventh in the table following their thrilling three-wicket success at Ilminster in a low scoring game last weekend while Golden Hill are third following their 25-run win at home to Keynsham.
Wellington’s victory at Ilminster ended a run of four successive losses - which had seen them slip close to the relegation zone. As expected, they have found it tough going in the Bristol/Somerset Division following last season’s tremendous form in which they did not lose a league match all summer.
Wellington’s big problem has been their batting. They faced a target of 108 at Ilminster last weekend and looked like losing until vice-captain Luke Desave came to the rescue with 29 not out, after a defiant knock of 40 by Alex Sparks.
Wellington 2nd XI will be defending their 100 per cent record in the third division of the Somerset Cricket League when they play away to South Petherton. Wellington beat Chard by six wickets at home last weekend while South Petherton were 106-run winners at Minehead.
