WELLINGTON'S former top scorer Jake Quick has rejoined the Jewson Western League premier division club.

The ex-Bishops Lydeard striker was Wellington's leading scorer during the 21-22 and 22-23 seasons and spent last winter playing for Axminster Town.

Pre-season training for Wellington is in full swing with manager Richard Cherry busy finalising his squad for the new campaign.

The Tangerines will again be playing in the Western League premier division, kicking off away to Ilfracombe Town on Saturday, July 27.

Wellington improved throughout last season and their finish included victory over eventual champions Helston Athletic and an injury time defeat by runners-up Falmouth Town.

Cherry has confirmed that virtually all of the players have already committed for 2024-25 and he is also looking to add several new signings.

Among those staying with the club are highly rated keeper Jake Viney, experienced defender Kieran Bailey and midfielder Glen Wright, who won a hat-trick of awards at the end-of-season presentations.

They will be joined by the likes of midfielders Sam Towler and Josh Lukins, along with defender Mark Cornish.

Training sessions are continuing on the 3G pitch at Taunton’s Castle School.

The following friendlies (all away) have also been arranged: Wednesday, July 10 Chard Town; Wednesday, July 17 Minehead; Saturday, July 20 Newton Abbot Spurs; Tuesday, July 23 Bridgwater and Taunton College.
