WATCHET are the new leaders of the second division in the West Somerset Cricket League after they hammered previous pacemakers Winsford by 182 runs at home.
The Seasiders scored 302-5 in their 40 overs with Alastair Harrison hitting 95, James Weetch 67, Ben Robinson 41 not out and Ryan Strong 39.
Winsford, who now trail Watchet by two points and have played one more game, were bowled out for 120, unable to cope with the bowling of Nick Virgin (3-33), Eben Harding (2-29), Callum Knight (2-46) and Ben Robinson (2-7).
Roadwater failed to take advantage of Winsford’s defeat, losing by 41 runs away to Crowcombe who batted first and made 230 with Matt Warne dominating the innings with 104. Jack Foster took 3-30.
Ross Cornish was four short of his century as Roadwater were bowled out for 189 with Jalees Khattak (3-24) and Cornish (3-40) being the pick of the bowlers.
Fourth-placed Huish Champflower also lost - going down by 41 runs at home to Stoodleigh. Huish scored 116 all out with Sam Bowker taking 3-19, while Andrew Torrance (31) and Bowker (30) top scored as Stoodleigh strolled to victory.
