WELLINGTON 3rd XI won their first match of the season in Division Six West of the Somerset Cricket League when they beat Weston super Mare 4th XI by 92 runs at home on Saturday.
Deciding to bat first Wellington lost two early wickets before Aks Latifi (52) and Des Campbell (28) put on 60 for the third wicket.
Campbell and Lewis Sparks (75) took the score to 146 as Wellington appeared to be heading for a big score. However Sparks began to run out of partners after Campbell’s departure and Wellington were bowled out for 213. Trevor Brooks with 12 was the only other player to get into double figures.
In reply Weston began confidently with an opening stand of 48 but they started to lose wickets on a regular basis and were bowled out for 121.
Tyler Fyfe finished with figures of 4-35 in his eight overs, dismissing the middle-order batting, while Alex Troake took 2-27 and Connor Wickenden 2-0. There was one wicket apiece for Charlie Burrough and Sparks.
