THE first match of the outdoor season at Wellington Bowling Club was a mixed friendly against Bridgwater's Victoria Bowls Club.
Liz May, Brian Wombwell and skip Ken Brown had a good tussle on their rink against a strong Victoria side but came through to win 18 – 17.
Suzanne Worth, Peter White and skip Mike Connor were losing to begin with but came back to win by seven shots, 17 – 10.
Simon Spalding, Alan Every and skip Alan Moore played an excellent game winning comfortably 25 – 11 and on the last rink Bernard Barnes, Diana Dagg and skip Henry Richbell just managed to pinch victory by one shot, 18 – 17.
The Bridgwater side were two players short so Geoff Stamp and Robin Shaw filled in for them but Wellington won on all four rinks and had an enjoyable game to win overall by 78 shots to 55.
