ROCKWELL Green Shortmat bowlers welcomed Kingsmead for the return match following the Green's drubbing at Langford Budville two weeks ago.

The match was played over four games of 10 ends. Kingsmead brought a strong group of players looking to complete the double over the Green. Getting things underway (Green names first ) Syd, John Y & Brian encountered Stella, Tessa & David M. The first 6 ends were tight but a 3 on end 7 swung the game in favour of the Green. Kingsmead tried all sorts to pull it back, but things did not work out for them & the Green took advantage, gaining a 4 on end 9 for a 12—4 victory.

Mat 2 saw Mick B, Reg & Mike R against Di, Dave G & Martin. Again the first 5 ends were very tight at 2 all with shots shared. A 4 on end 6 rather took the wind out of the Kingsmead trio's sails as the Green cruised to a surprising 11—3 victory. The Green led 22-7 at the break.

The restart saw Graham, Dave D & Mike R looking to consolidate the lead while Trevor, Vickie & David M were looking to reduce the deficit in a hard fought match. With scores level after ends 4, 6 & 8, the Green edged ahead on end 9 & were lucky to win the last by 2 shots, thus winning 10—6.

Last up Christine, Cass & Brian played Steve, Mike & Dave GR. With shots hard to come by the Green were 3—0 up after 4 ends but Kingsmead hit back taking the next 4 ends including a 4 on end 8 to lead by 8—3. The Green took the last two ends but it was too little too late as they went down 8-6.

The Green were well pleased to beat Kingsmead by 39-21, recording their first win over Kingsmead for five years.
