The outdoor finals played at Wellington Bowling Club co-incided with President’s Day and the closing of the outdoor green.

All finals matches were closely fought with some excellent bowling.

In the Australian Pairs, Paul Kelly and Christine Willcocks beat Ian Hollingsworth and David Beaudet by 17 shots to 10. This was followed by the Open Championship which saw Rod Troake beat Rob Higgs 21-16.

On the Sunday morning, the two-wood finals were played. This time Rod Troake was beaten by Mike Groves 16-11. In the Ladies match, Christine Willcocks defeated Lynda Manning 16-13. The two Handicap matches saw Julian Street beat Bill Warnett 21-17 and Lynda Manning defeat Angie Moore 22-20 in a very close match.

In the Men’s championship it was neck and neck until Rob Higgs finally came out the winner against Graham Brown 21-18. In the Ladies Championship, Christine Willcocks won her third final by beating Sally Waygood 22-14.
