THERE was something a bit topsy turvy about some of the last games of the Afternoon Mixed League season at Wellington Bowling Club.
One of the biggest surprises was the result between table topping Trailblazers and third placed Eagles.
It was not likely that Eagles stood much chance against the Trailblazers who had won 17 of their 19 matches.
But Sue Channon, Derek Vile, Gerry Mangeolles and skip Nick Channon's Eagles were not bothered by reputations.
Tony Gibson's Trailblazers could do nothing to stem the tide. and they lost 18 shots to 4.
Despite being defeated, Trailblazers are deserved champions.
Eileen Stewart, Liz May, Ian Stewart and Skip Alan May's second placed Blackbirds were in great form against Yzeds who were a bowler short so had 25% of their score deducted so lost 18-8 (rounded).
Badgers have had a good season and were in fourth coming into this game against Demons who had struggled of late. But they didn't this time! Skip Ernie Windsor's Demons really got down to it and won 21 shots to 6.
Despite some unexpected results, Trailblazers are now the champs with Blackbirds close in second, Eagles third and Badgers fourth.Demons ended up in fifth with Yeds close behind in sixth.
