WELLINGTON is set to feature in the upcoming episode of BBC One programme ‘Escape to the Country’.

Nancy Powell-Brace, former deputy mayor of Wellington and managing partner of the recently closed Odette’s Tearoom, says she was interviewed for the episode which is set to be screened on Tuesday, February 18.

Speaking to BBC journalists in Wellington Park, Nancy said she spoke about what the town has to offer, including the much-loved sports teams and arts groups.

She said: “I did say that Somerset is often the county you drive through to get to Cornwall. But I didn’t want to make it sound too great, otherwise everyone will come here..”

Nancy says she believes one of the properties featured in the show is located near Wellington, and another is in Chard.

Escape to the Country is the well-known BBC television series helping prospective buyers find their dream house in the English countryside.

In the upcoming episode, Briony May Williams guides a London couple around a number of countryside properties in the hope of securing them their dream rural home.

Escape to the Country’s ‘Somerset and Devon’ episode will air on Tuesday, February 18 at 3pm on BBC One.
