ABOUT 40 members and friends of Bulford Senior Citizens Club attended a coronation tea party in Wellington on Thursday (May 11).

Club treasurer Beryl Card said it was decided to wait until after the coronation weekend to put on the tea party to avoid it clashing with everything else that was happening at the time.

Mrs Card said: "We always meet on a Thursday anyway and have entertainment of some sort, so members are used to coming out then so we thought it was a good idea to do it then."

The tea party, held in the sheltered housing estate's Bulford Hall, featured a specially-commissioned coronation cake complete with crown, glasses of sparkling wine, savoury and dessert foods which were homemade by members, and singing the National Anthem.
