STAFF and children at St John’s C of E Primary School in Wellington welcomed visitors the Archbishop George Takeli and his wife June from Melanesia on Friday.

Pupils put on an assembly of traditional songs and dance, and the Archbishop was presented with a collection of children’s prayers written for him and his wife.

The school has been partnered with St Stephen’s Pauma in the Solomon Islands

since 2016 through the Melanesia Mission. The schools have been in contact via letter and email and have learned a lot about each other’s culture and way of life.
