WELLINGTON resident, Anthony Griffiths is set to tackle this year’s Manchester Marathon in aid of Children’s Hospice South West.
Last year, Mr Griffiths - known to friends and family as Ant - completed his longest running challenge by finishing the Plymouth Half Marathon. Now, he’s back and ready to up the ante by participating in the Adidas Manchester Marathon 2025 which will take place on Sunday, April 27.
Ant said: “Running the Manchester Marathon is a personal challenge I’ve set for myself, but it’s also about something much bigger. Training for this marathon has pushed me mentally and physically, but every mile I run is with purpose.
“I’m raising money and awareness for Children’s Hospice South West, a charity that provides vital care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. I feel nervous, excited, and incredibly motivated to cross that finish line, not just for me, but for the families who need our support the most.”

Ant is supported by his family, who are aiding him in his fundraising efforts. His wife, Beckie, and two daughters, Chloe and Kelsey, will be hosting a charity cake sale on Monday, April 21 from 10.30-1.30pm at 36 Meyer Close, Wellington.
Beckie said: “Ant has always said he wanted to run a marathon so when he got the bug for running he set up his first challenge to run the Plymouth half marathon last year on behalf of Parkinson’s UK.
“Since then, he has grown stronger and wanted to push himself further so when the opportunity came, he took the plunge and signed up for the Manchester marathon.
“Me and the girls are so incredibly proud of him for his dedication, determination and commitment and will be in the crowds cheering him on every step of the way.”
