A WELLINGTON antiques shop is inviting locals to join a ‘value day’ with an expert Antiques Roadshow valuer at the end of this month.

Nick Nacks Antique Centre will be hosting the experienced valuer and auctioneer, Cristian Beadman, for the event on Thursday, April 24, when the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow presenter will be assessing locals’ items for free.

Co-owner of Nick Nacks, Nick Magnum, says a number of his customers are already planning to attend the evaluation, but that anyone who has an item they think may be of value is welcome to come along.

Nick said: “Cristian’s visit is part of an effort to find hidden gems. It’s about finding unique items, trying to identify stuff locally; not everyone can travel to Bedfordshire or the other Roadshow sites.

“He will be valuing anyone’s items, and if he likes them, he’ll invite you up.

He added: “Bring something in that’ll test him, that’s what you really want.”

Cristian Beadman is Devonian, but has worked for Christie’s in London, followed by 15 years at Dreweatts in Berkshire.

He’s been back in Devon for a few years and has taken up the chairman’s role at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood, where he also oversees the Furniture and European Works of Art departments.

Mr Beadman also works as one of the expert presenters on the BBC’s long running and hugely watched Antiques Roadshow, which he has now been involved with for 12 years.

The evaluation day will take place from 10.30am until 12.30pm at Nick Nacks Antiques Centre on Mantle Street, Wellington.

The antique centre opened in September 2024 as a primary site to the owners’ secondary Kentisbeare shop. Situated in Clifton House, Nick Nacks features four rooms full of various antiques and collectibles
