Local woman Brooke Aspin has been called up to play for England's under-19 football team.
The talented football star has previously played for England's under 17s and 18s youth side, the latter of which she captained.
Brooke, who is on loan from Chelsea to Bristol City, has now been called up to join England's under-19 side, after celebrating her 18th birthday.
She is set to join the squad who will play two games this month, the first against Denmark on September 20, and the second against Germany on September 26.
The 24-strong squad are playing the games in advance of the U19s EUROS, where they are set to play against Wales, Czechia and Greece.
It comes after Brooke was taken seriously ill last year, when she was hospitalised by sepsis.
After several weeks on an intensive care ward Brooke made a full recovery to join the Women's Super League. She has since used her platform to raise awareness of the potentially deadly condition.
Brooke honed her talents in Bristol City's academy programme, debuting for the side at the age of 16. A formidable defender she is described as 'aggressive and dominant' and possessing 'excellent leadership skills.'
She made a major contribution to the side's promotion last season, in a 4-0 win against Ashton gate where the defender scored a goal with a header.
