Somerset Council have been unable to say when a main road into Milverton will reopen.
The B3187 leading into Milverton via Wood Street has been closed for over three months over fears of subsidence following last year's floods.
One lane of the road had remained open under lights, before the decision was taken to close it fully.
But Somerset Council, which is facing bankruptcy and struggling to fill a £100 million black hole in its finances, has not been able to set a date for the road to reopen.
A spokesperson for the authority told the Wellington Weekly News that Somerset Council were 'keen' to resolve the issue as soon as possible. In a statement they said:
“The B3187 Wood Street Milverton remains closed after significant damage was caused to an embankment as a result of extensive flooding in the area last year.
“We are working with all partners so we can deliver the necessary repairs and reopen the road. We understand this closure is impacting the local community so we are keen to resolve the matter as soon as possible.”
