The Sue Ryder charity shop in Wellington has closed suddenly for essential repairs.
The Fore Street charity shop was seen this week with a sign in the window declaring it would remain closed until further notice.
A spokesperson for the charity later confirmed the store had been shut over health and safety concerns. Karen Rogers, Retail Regional Manager at Sue Ryder said:
“Due to essential repairs, we have taken the decision to close the Sue Ryder shop at 23 Fore Street in Wellington while they are being fixed.
"The health and safety of our shop staff, volunteers and shoppers is of the upmost importance to us, which is why the shop will remain closed until we feel satisfied it is safe to reopen.
“We anticipate that the repairs will take some time to fix and expect to reopen the shop in around two months’ time. If you wish to continue supporting Sue Ryder so we can be there when it matters for those in need of palliative or bereavement support, our nearest shops can be found in Taunton or Tiverton.
"We kindly ask that no donations are left outside the shop while it is closed. If you would like to speak to us about any recent purchases, then please contact customer services on 0800 917 8123.”
The shop is one of 20 across the South West and Wales which helps to raise money for palliative, neurological and bereavement support.
