A WELLINGTON resident has warned neighbours over a suspected opportunist thief who has been caught on camera trying car door handles.
The warning comes after an individual was captured on a doorbell camera apparently attempting to open car doors in South Street.
One resident, who captured the images, issued a warning to neighbours, telling them to keep their property “as safe as possible.” They said: “I think it is important that local people are aware so they can make sure they do what they can to ensure their personal property is as safe as possible.
“I do not know what this persons intentions were, but the car was parked off the road on a private drive.”
The resident said they attempted to report the incident to police, but abandoned the attempt after being put on hold for an hour.
It comes after a number of cars were damaged in the area - with four vehicles said to have been vandalised in Priory over the weekend.
Avon and Somerset Police has been contacted for comment.
