WORK is set to start on the new St Luke’s Centre Community Hub at Cotford St Luke.

Building will begin on Monday, January 24, and should be completed by July.

The Hub will provide much-needed additional facilities for the village, including a cafe, meeting place, space for clubs, groups, events and a sanctuary space for those in need.

The £870,000 needed to fund the project has been raised from the Diocese of Bath and Wells, fundraising efforts by church members and the community in the village and in neighbouring villages, donations, pledges and grants. Most recently, St Luke’s Centre has been supported by a grant from Allchurches Trust, one of the UK’s largest grant-making trusts benefiting churches, charities and community.

The Diocese of Bath and Wells purchased and owns the land but the building will be owned by the Parochial Church Council of Heathfield with Cotford St Luke, which will have overall responsibly for St Luke’s Centre.

Once construction has been completed, operational responsibility will be handed to the management committee of Community and PCC representatives.
