SOMERSET Skaters are coming to the Wellington Sports Centre in March.

For those keen to get their skates on, the first event will be held on Friday, March 10, from 8 30 pm to 10 pm. Sessions will follow every two weeks at the same time and venue.

Attendees should pre-book their equipment if needed and arrive at the earlier time of 8 10 pm to kit up. The price is £7 per skate.

Somerset Skaters are a non-profit group with a mission statement to 'enable all skaters across the county to meet mingle, socialise, and learn a new skill in a safe friendly environment'.

The group's founder, Beverly Lewis, told the Wellington Weekly: "Somerset Skaters are thrilled at securing a venue in Wellington at the sports center.

"Somerset Skaters welcomes all skaters' abilities levels and ages - as part of our rainbow for diversity for all people and levels of skating ,quads or inliners, whatever your background age or ability.

"We currently have skaters ranging from the age of four years to 68 years old. We also currently have 568 members on our Facebook page from across the county.

"We also support the current pump track and skate park initiative that is going through the consultation phase with Wellington Town Council.

"To upgrade the current skate park and hopefully build a brand-new pump track for all roller sports to improve facilities for all to use."
