MOTORISTS who called into Rumwell Farm Shop helped raise £390 for a Wellington scout group and a local charity by paying to have their cars washed.
The farm shop and 1st Wellington Scout Group teamed up to raise money for the scouts and Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE).
Anne Mitchell, joint owner of the farm shop, said: “We’re delighted lots of people took advantage and supported the car wash, which was held for two great local causes.
“SURE is one of our charities of the year and we are so pleased that the scouts were happy to come on board again for the fundraiser, and also collected some money for their own activities.”
The car wash was held in the farm shop car park and cost £4 a vehicle with £2 going to Wellington Scouts and £2 to SURE.
Anne added: “The £390 was divided equally between the two charities and they both received £195 each.”
Dave Belfield, executive chairman at the 1st Wellington Scout Group, said: “The money raised will be going towards improving the scouts’ camping and activities equipment, benefiting all age groups across Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.”
